Kanzo is a Korean-run sushi restaurant and despite all the negative comments, in my opinion, it's one of the better sushi places downtown. They give you a choice of choosing purple rice or white rice with no extra charge. Purple rice is fun, slightly chewier texture but no difference in nutritional value so it's your call. It's fast, cheap and good portions. I usually get take-out when I order from here and the fish is always fresh. I'm giving this a 4-star because the last 2 times I was here the rice to water ratio was really off. The rice was SUPER sticky and gooey. In Korean, when we mess up our rice we say, "our rice turned out like DDEOK" meaning: our rice turned out like a sticky rice cake haha (that is not a good compliment). Hopefully they fix the rice soon!

Ordered delivery and requested black rice (it's in ALL of the photos on door dash) and got white rice. They didn't contact me about not being able to do black rice or it costing extra and needing approval or anything. Also, the spicy salmon is just a regular salmon roll drowned in spicy mayo. Super disappointed.

They have black rice. That is all. Recently I've been traveling a lot, so my diet has been... not really a diet. I thought Vancouver might be able to help me with that, but as usual, it's hard to find a sushi place that is willing to substitute white rice for a whole grain variety, such as brown or black rice. Unfortunately I can't give more than 3/5 stars for Kanzo because the sushi were very basic, crumbling, and overall not authentic. We can blame that on the black rice, but I noticed that the white rice versions also don't look right. The sashimi on the other hand was very good. Fresh, literally melts on your tongue. That's pacific coast seafood for ya! Overall, cheap (bento box options are around $12) and fast! This is a hole in the wall, so please refrain from taking large or formal parties here

I'm never disappointed! The food is always fresh, they have good pricing, and generous portion sizing. Love the black rice option. Everything I've tried is delicious (smoked salmon rolls, beef & chicken teriyaki bento, Philadelphia rolls, kappa maki). My new favourite sushi place.

Sushi place near international village, tucked on the side of the road with patio seats available. This place has decent price point but you will also get just okay sushi. Their rolls are small eventhough we ordered then special rolls. I would not come back here just because of the food tasted. The service was great and food came promptly. A great place to hangout forna quick bite before an event at rogers arena.
